I am part of the Supporting People team. The team manages a budget of £9.6 million. This money comes from the government to provide housing support to people in Southampton. This money pays for services that help people to live in their own housing.
Some on this money goes to services for people with a learning disability to help them live in their own home.
My job includes
- Visiting the services we pay for to check they are providing the support people need
- Writing reports about the services saying what work well and what could work better
- Planning what future housing support is needed in the city
- Talking to service users and other people to find out their views about services
- Holding meetings with people about housing support services
I have worked in Southampton since 1989 in lots of different jobs with social services including as a care manager and as a residential manager.
